The country's leading NTTN company, Fiber @ Home Chairman Moinul Haque Siddiqui has proposed to bring foreign companies like Google, Facebook under the law to establish data sovereignty in Bangladesh. BTRC Vice President Subrata Kumar Maitra expressed solidarity with this demand. He said, OTT platform is being brought under registration to prevent cyber outbreak. Google-Facebook is being sued and fined for data protection and privacy violations in different countries. We are also working to bring them under the law. Data Protection Act is in progress. Some matters are in court. The speakers expressed these views at the meeting after the inauguration of Bangladesh Technocity Limited and Felicity IDC Internet Data Center in Gazipur's Hi-Tech City on Sunday. ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, he said that the ICT Division has already made a draft law on the security of personal information and commercial data. Soon they too will be brought under discipline.   Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority, said in his welcome speech that the construction of 8 more Hi-Tech Parks will be completed this year. And in 2025-27 it will be possible to establish 92 hi-tech parks. In the meantime, 32,000 people have been employed in these parks. These parks will be one of the driving forces of the country's economy in the future.     Regarding the establishment of data center, Fiber @ Home Chairman Mainul Islam Siddiqui said, thinking about the future needs, we have started the work of two data centers in Dhaka and Jessore. Meanwhile, the Tasks of the data Centre in Gazipur has finished. The Datacenter has already achieved Uptime Institute certification due to its multilayer redundancy. In the last 20 years, more and more data centers have been built in the banking sector. They are challenged with these. This data center has been approved by Bangladesh Bank to meet that challenge. While drawing the attention of BTRC for setting up hyperscale data centers, he said that even though big companies like Facebook, Google, and Amazon are registered in Bangladesh, they have not yet properly set up data centers in Bangladesh. It is not happening because of rules, regulations, guidelines, laws and so on. We have great potential with the data center here as we connect to the multidimensional submarine cable.   ISPAB President Imdadul Haque, Secretary General Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan; Amra Network Chairman Syed Farhad Ahmed, Link Three Chairman Rehan Qayyum and others were present on that event.
